Message from the Chair

The mission of the Applied Materials and Optoelectronic Engineering (AMOE) Department is to cultivate students to gain knowledge and develop skills in synthesizing versatile materials and fabricating high-efficiency optoelectronic devices. Students who graduate from the AMOE department are expected to become engineers who design, investigate, and invent cutting-edge light-emitting, energy storage, and display semiconductors.  Moreover, with the advancement of optical engineering and nanotechnology, the 2 nm/3 nm process has become viable in current semiconductor manufacturing. Current trends indicate that sub-1 nm semiconductor manufacturing techniques will be achieved by advanced optical engineering and material fabrication technology in the near future.  Currently, many graduates from the AMOE department work as engineers in semiconductor manufacturing and design companies such as TSMC and UMC. The excellent learning environment at National Chi Nan University and promising future job opportunities in AMOE are boosting our students upward.
